Reaching an unprecedented 231,000, this figure exceeded expectations pegged at 215,000 and outshone the previous value of 208,000. This is marked as a new high since the week of August 26, 2023.
Simultaneously, a steady stream of citizens continues to apply for unemployment benefits. In the week ending on April 27, the United States recorded a count of 1.785 million continuing applications, meeting expectations and nearly matching the prior value of 1.774 million.
