According to Foresight News, Matter Labs' Product Delivery Head, Ramon, has announced that the next upgrade for zkSync will be launched on May 13. The new upgrade will include several features and enhancements. These include P256Verify, a precompile that allows for signature verification on the secp256r1 elliptic curve, and the addition of ecAdd, ecMul, and ecPairing precompiles.

The upgrade will also introduce Bridgehub, a foundational component for unlocking interoperability across all ZK Stack chains. In terms of the ZK Stack, support for Validium, custom DA layers, and custom base token protocols has been completed. These changes will be available for ZK Stack chains following some upcoming server modifications.

The upgrade will also support .transfer/.send calls without the need for providing Gas. This feature will unlock some ETH in contracts that were deployed without adhering to best code practices.
