According to Decrypt, the platform is merging with Rug Radio to form a crypto-native media juggernaut. The merger aims to change the way people think of crypto media. Decrypt, GG, SCENE, Degen Alley, and Emerge will continue to operate, and the current staff will remain unchanged. Decrypt's editorial team will remain separate from Rug's and continue to report to Decrypt's editor-in-chief.
The merger will not affect Decrypt's journalism, and its journalistic integrity will remain intact. The Rug Radio Network has numerous content creators who are subject matter experts in various areas, such as crypto trading, gaming, NFT collecting, and art curating. Decrypt's editors will work with Rug creators to include their content on the Decrypt platform alongside traditional journalism. Decrypt journalists may also appear on Rug podcasts or host their own.
A new holding company, currently referred to as [REDACTED], will be created to manage Decrypt and Rug Radio. Loxley Fernandes, co-CEO of Rug, will be the CEO of the holding company, while Farokh Sarmad, founder and co-CEO of Rug, will be President, and Josh Quittner, co-founder and CEO of Decrypt, will be Chairman. The holding company will manage revenue and resources for the entity, build an ad tech network on Arbitrum, and issue a token to power the ecosystem. Editorial issues will be handled independently by Decrypt and Rug, and the holding company will not be involved in editorial policy.
