New Airdrop on Binance, but what is BERA?
Berachain is a high-performance blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), designed to facilitate developers in creating or migrating decentralized applications (dApps). A distinctive feature of Berachain is its innovative consensus mechanism called Proof-of-Liquidity, which not only secures the network but also incentivizes the efficient allocation of liquidity, enhancing the functionality and scalability of the dApps built on its platform.
On February 6, 2025, Berachain launched its mainnet and announced an airdrop of 15.8% of its 500 million BERA tokens to eligible users. This airdrop targets testnet users, NFT holders, community builders, and Binance BNB holders. The majority is allocated to Bong Bears NFT holders, and 10 million BERA tokens have been reserved for Binance's HODLer campaign.
Additionally, Berachain has introduced a tri-token model that plays a fundamental role in its economic and governance structure. Although specific details about the tokens and their functions have not been provided, this model generally involves tokens that serve different purposes, such as facilitating transactions, incentivizing certain behaviors, or governing the development of the platform.
