With a properly funded community pool (per Prop 88), we believe now is the right time to launch one or more grant programs to serve the community contributors and builders around the Hub. This is a community spend proposal seeking approval to fund 588,000 ATOMs for the ATOM Accelerator DAO Grant Program.
Grant Program Overview
Through the ATOM Accelerator DAO, we seek to foster community engagement and unleash their collective wisdom by encouraging individual and team-based initiatives. The ATOM Accelerator DAO provides an alternative source of local funding for the Cosmos Hub and relieves some of the burden of public governance. The program has greater funding flexibility and also allows for proactive allocation of funds by working with the community to develop internal investment themes.
Grants will focus on open source code, public goods, and ecosystem initiatives that create value for ATOM holders.
Existing Hub issues that can be addressed through this program are:
Inadequate funding for public goods;
Idle funds in the community pool;
Growth risk aversion;
Insufficient support for teams already developing Hubs;
and developer loss to other L1s.
The grant program addresses these issues by:
Liaison between dispersed teams;
Minimize risk through due diligence;
Support teams already growing the Hub;
Bringing new developers to the center;
Deploy capital efficiently to ensure R&D and growth at the center.
