The number of cryptocurrency wallets holding at least $1 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) is set to triple by 2023.
BitInfoCharts data shows that the number of addresses holding BTC worth at least $1 million has increased to 81,925 from 23,795 on January 1, 2023. This means there has been a 237% increase in the last 11 months.
However, these millionaire crypto wallets have no direct link to individual users, with most of these wallet addresses belonging to either crypto exchanges or financial institutions.
Bitcoin millionaires record was broken in 2021
According to Glassnode’s comparative data, the highest number of millionaire BTC addresses of all time was seen on November 9, 2021. On that date, the number of cryptocurrency wallets holding at least $1 million worth of BTC was recorded as 112,573.
A day later, on November 10, 2021, the BTC price rose to its highest level of all time. At that time, the BTC price broke the record by reaching $68,789.
