Mário Borges, better known as “O Crente Trader”, is being accused of carrying out a multi-million dollar scam in the region of Natal, capital of Rio Grande do Norte. According to the complaints, M7 Business stopped paying its customers in June this year and recently began to be investigated by the Civil Police.

Borges worked in a musical instrument store for several years. However, he has appeared with a more flashy style in recent years, always wearing a suit and posing next to expensive cars.

The language used by Borges also caught the attention of many. On social media, videos of “Crente Trader” go viral due to their catchphrases.

“Good morning, brokers”, says Borges when talking to his colleagues. “Let’s get it in Brazil,” he continues, stating that he operates at a frequency above “750 hertz” while inviting other people to invest with him.

In the comments, one person states that Crente Trader “has already disappeared with more than R$5 million from investors”. Another even highlights the profile of the Securities and Exchange Commission, in the hope that the authority will take some action.

“It can only be fake hahahahahaa”, commented Charles Mendlowicz, known as the Sincere Economist, disbelieving what he was seeing.

On social media, in addition to courses for traders, Borges boasts profits from his negotiations while offering 'copy trader' services for those who do not want to buy his educational content.

“I'm arriving here for a business meeting at Genial and I was looking at my results here. R$ 1,795, was the result today. If you don’t have time to trade, I thought and created the ‘copy trader’, my copy trader, where I will replicate my operations for you”, comments Borges in the video.

“Everything I do here, everything I win here, you will be winning there too, automatically.”

On another M7 Business page, called M7 Institute, a customer complains that they did not have access to the promised content.

“I managed to get the course approved, but it's content that I already found for free on YouTube”, comments one of them after stating that he solved the problem, but found another one. Subsequently, the same victim reveals that he had paid R$1,000 for this content.

“For me, 1000 is the amount I earn minimum wage, but I “invested” this amount with him and unfortunately lost it”, commented another victim of Crente Trader.

Victims complaining about M7 Business and M7 Institute, companies owned by Mário Borges, better known as O Crente Trader.

However, the courses part was bait for an even bigger scam. After all, Borges took advantage of this visibility to capture money from victims while promising them profits.

Mário Borges, the Believer Trader, is out of contact

According to Bruno Giovanni, director and presenter of TV Assembleia, Mário Borges deceived professionals from different areas in the city of Natal, including police officers and doctors. As for the figures, some lost more than R$1 million.

“Three students we spoke to did not invest in his company and are satisfied with what they learned”, commented Giovanni during the Meia-dia RN program.

However, the presenter begins to describe several other problems with Crente Trader. As an example, he cites pending rent payments on properties used by M7, payment of taxes and cars taken due to non-payment.

“It guaranteed a return to these people of 6% per month”, continues the presenter, noting that the scheme looked like a financial pyramid, but it lasted a long time due to attracting new customers who came from corporate events and the use of influential people.

“Today they estimate that at least 150 people are watching ships”, continues Giovanni, noting that the victims include lawyers, civil police officers, tax auditors, doctors, independent professionals and businesspeople.

“When his despair hit, in July, he started saying that whoever wanted to have 10% profitability, that was the time. Mário Borges’ path is a total financial pyramid and whoever invested will lose [everything].”

Finally, the journalist reveals that some people lost 50 thousand, but others lost more than R$1 million. The full video of the complaint is available below. Mário Borges is missing, meaning no one knows where he is.
