He Yi was smarter than her peers since she was young. When they were in kindergarten, she was already in primary one. At the age of five, she looked out of place in primary school. Seeing her peers still learning nursery rhymes, she felt that she could not communicate. Therefore, she had few friends in her childhood and could only read her parents' books at home. She usually ranked first in the exams. At the age of 16, she worked as a beverage promoter, earning less than 1,000 yuan a month. At the age of 18, she worked as a store manager of a bedding store for two months.
Give up being a psychological counselor and become a travel host
In 2006, when she was 20 years old, she studied for a master's degree in psychological counseling in Beijing and applied for the psychological counselor qualification certificate. However, after working as an assistant psychological counselor for a while, she found that people did not pay attention to mental health, and even the top psychological experts in the country did not have a good living condition. Therefore, she thought that this industry could not make money, and she completely gave up becoming a psychological counselor and became a university class teacher.
In 2012, a friend who was a director thought that He Yi was very suitable to be a program host and suggested that she go for an interview. Although He Yi had no experience, there were many models, actors and hosts competing at the time, and she was able to stand out in the end.
During the final round of interviews, she pointed out her strengths: "I have a background in psychology, so I have strong empathy and can communicate well with different people. I have studied makeup, so you can save the makeup artist's money. I don't ask for anything in return, you can give me any amount of money." She then became the field host of Travel Channel's "Beautiful Destinations" and "Go As Far As You Can", traveling all over the country.
Join OKcoin to form the "cryptocurrency iron triangle"
After joining the entertainment industry, He Yi mostly interacted with people in the entrepreneurial circle and listened to their discussions about investment and entrepreneurship. In November 2013, OKCoin investor Mai Gang found He Yi and hoped that she could help promote OKCoin during the New Year and distribute Bitcoin red envelopes in WeChat Moments. At that time, He Yi knew nothing about Bitcoin, but after learning about it, she felt that Bitcoin was very magical and had room for development, so she agreed to Mai Gang's request.
After the New Year, Mai Gang held a dinner party to thank all those who helped promote the company. It was at this dinner party that He Yi met Xu Mingxing, the founder of OKCoin. They had a great conversation about entrepreneurship and Bitcoin, and Xu Mingxing even invited He Yi to visit the company. At that time, there was a vacancy in marketing, so Xu Mingxing offered He Yi an annual salary of 400,000 yuan. He Yi quit his job as a host and joined OKCoin, becoming the vice president and responsible for brand building and marketing.
Under He Yi's leadership, OKCoin took nearly 60% of the market share in April 2015, becoming the top exchange in China. She earned the title of "The Queen of Cryptocurrency Circle". She, Xu Mingxing, and then CTO Zhao Changpeng formed the "Iron Triangle of Cryptocurrency Circle", responsible for marketing, decision-making, and technology respectively.

At the end of 2015, He Yi announced her departure from OKCoin due to differences in ideas. As she had signed an agreement, she could not work in the industry within two years of leaving. On the recommendation of a friend, she joined Yixia Technology, a company with a market value of 20 billion RMB, as vice president. She was mainly responsible for the marketing of Yixia Technology and its products, and successfully made its brand a top live broadcast platform. The most successful thing was to win the cooperation with the popular Korean star Song Zhongji for Yizhibo, which also made a number of investors optimistic about her ability.
However, in August 2017, He Yi announced that he would leave Yixia Technology and join Binance to return to the cryptocurrency circle, and served as Binance's co-founder and chief marketing officer. Once the news was released, Binance's own BNB coin trading volume surged, ranking directly among the top 10 in the world. In December of the same year, a series of marketing activities helped Binance rush to the top of the global trading volume, with a trading volume of more than 3 billion US dollars at that time.
After joining Binance, He Yi was responsible for the marketing operations. She also issued an order requiring everyone to be customer service representatives and answer all questions raised by all Binance users. She also personally trained marketing staff and answered user questions in person, which earned her the title of "Binance Chief Customer Service".
He Yi has worked in different industries, but she has always been able to successfully lead her team to the top. In the 2017 Top Ten Cryptocurrency Figures, He Yi was the only woman on the list. Many people once regarded He Yi as the biggest "vase" in the cryptocurrency circle, but she proved her ability with her actions and became the "strongest backer" of Binance. In 2022, Binance announced that it would appoint He Yi as the head of its venture capital and incubation agency Binance Labs.
