Chengdu Lian'an, Buidler DAO, LegalDAO, and Footprint Analytics jointly released the "2022 Global Blockchain Ecosystem Security Annual Report", which pointed out that in 2022, Chengdu Lian'an Eagle Eye Blockchain Security Situation Awareness Platform monitored more than 167 major attacks in the Web3 field, and the total losses caused by various attacks reached 3.6384 billion US dollars, an increase of 47.4% over the attack losses in 2021. Among them, there were 10 security incidents with a single loss of more than 100 million US dollars, and 21 security incidents with a loss of 10 million to 100 million US dollars. From the perspective of project type, 12 cross-chain bridge security incidents caused a total loss of approximately 1.89 billion US dollars, ranking first among all project types. DeFi projects were attacked 113 times, about 67.6%, which is the most frequently attacked project type. In 2022, a total of 20 public chains had major security incidents. The top three in terms of loss amount were Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Solana; the top three in terms of the number of attack incidents were BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Solana. Vulnerability exploitation was the most frequent and costly attack method throughout the year. There were 87 attacks involving vulnerability exploitation throughout the year, with a total loss of $1.458 billion. About $1.396 billion of stolen funds were transferred to Tornado Cash, accounting for 38.7% of the funds lost in all attacks.
