According to BlockBeats, on October 10, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) has proposed new regulations to allow mutual funds and private equity funds to invest in digital assets in order to adapt to international developments and respond to the growing interest of institutional investors.
The draft proposal, released Wednesday, is seeking public feedback on changes to the standards for funds investing in digital assets. The SEC is proposing to allow securities firms and asset managers to offer services to large investors interested in diversifying into crypto-related products, such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The regulator said the aim is to align with international digital asset developments and provide investors with more opportunities to diversify their portfolios under expert management. The proposal comes after a surge in international demand for U.S.-listed Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
