Full of expectations about going to jail, describing the sentence as "summer camp"
Since the sentencing hearing on May 28, Salame has frequently shared on Twitter that he is looking forward to serving his sentence, jokingly saying that he will treat his sentence as a "summer camp" where he will make more friends.
Salame's attorneys asked that he serve his sentence closer to home at the federal prison in Cumberland, Maryland. Cumberland Federal Prison has served many well-known figures, such as Jack Abramoff, a well-known American lobbyist. And Salame will become another high-profile member of the prison.
(Note: Jack Abramoff is a well-known lobbyist in the United States. He was involved in using lobbying activities to illegally obtain millions of dollars from multiple Indian tribal casinos and bribing members of the U.S. Congress in exchange for legislative support that would benefit his clients. He was sentenced to prison in Cumberland in 2010. Released after 3 and a half years).

Salame is the only senior executive charged with the same crime as SBF. Salame admitted that in September 2023, he was suspected of illegally misappropriating FTX user funds as a source of political donations, defrauding the Federal Election Commission, and operating an unlicensed money transfer business. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. One and a half years in prison.
In August 2024, Salame's girlfriend Michelle Bond was indicted for allegedly using "illegal funds" to fund her campaign for the New York House of Representatives in 2022. Salame applied to withdraw the plea agreement, claiming that at the time, the U.S. prosecutors promised not to investigate Bond , but she was eventually included in the investigation. Bond is currently free and awaiting court arrangements.

Other high-level officials were arrested one after another
Since FTX’s collapse, several top executives have faced prison terms. SBF was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March this year. He also became a cellmate and was imprisoned in the same dormitory as the famous American rapper Diddy, while SBF's girlfriend Caroline Ellison was sentenced to 2 years. Other senior executives such as Nishad Singh and Gary Wang will also be sentenced on October 30 and November 20.
Salame also said he was "not worried" about going to jail. Before going to prison, Salame was still taking life lightly and seemed quite optimistic about his upcoming sentence.
