Previously, several reports claimed that Bitcoin creator Hal Finney was the face behind the pseudonym Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. However, emerging evidence suggests that Hal Finney was completing the 10-mile race at the same time that Satoshi Nakamoto was conducting transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain and responding to emails.
Jameson Lopp busts this theory
Jameson Lopp, co-founder of Bitcoin custody company Casa, expressed doubts about the above speculation. In an Oct. 21 blog post, Lopp presented new evidence that challenges this theory.
Lopp's primary evidence centered around a 10-mile race on April 18, 2009, in Santa Barbara, California. Finney competed in the Santa Barbara Running Company Chardonnay 10 Mile and 5K, which started at 8 a.m. PT, finishing in 78 minutes, according to race data.
The contest coincides with an exchange of time-stamped emails between Satoshi Nakamoto and Mike Hearn, one of the original Bitcoin developers.

During this time, it was revealed that early Bitcoin developer Mike Hearn had email correspondence with Satoshi Nakamoto, as evidenced by archived emails previously made public by Hearn.
This new information raises some interesting questions. At 9:16 AM Pacific Time, just 2 minutes before Hal finished the game, Satoshi sent Mike an email. Lopp emphasized that "during the entire hour and 18 minutes that Hal was running, it was highly unlikely that he was simultaneously interacting with a computer or communicating via email."
Furthermore, Lopp emphasized that on-chain data corroborated his thesis. Examining Hearn’s emails with Satoshi Nakamoto, it is clear that Satoshi initiated a transaction involving 32.5 BTC in one particular transaction. Notably, the transaction occurred at block 11,408, which was mined at 8:55 AM California time. This was about 55 minutes into the Hal Finney game.
Additionally, Satoshi Nakamoto confirmed this transaction along with another involving 50 BTC in an email sent at 6:16 p.m. Lopp emphasized that the email was sent while Hal Finney was still competing.
More information about Hal Finney and Satoshi Nakamoto
Additionally, the analysis also revealed the fact that Satoshi Nakamoto was actively involved in coding and participating in various online forum, the disease severely impaired his ability to use a keyboard.
Lopp pointed out that Hal Finney's ex-wife Fran Finney made a post on August 22, 2010, in which she mentioned that the couple attended the 2010 Magical Show held in San Francisco on August 14-15. Point summit. She revealed that due to Finney's ongoing battle with ALS, his typing speed had slowed from a brisk 120 words per minute to a finger peck.
As Lopp outlined, during the same time period, Satoshi made four code check-ins and contributed 17 forum posts between August 14 and 15, 2010.
Additionally, Lopp highlighted several differences between Finney’s reusable proof-of-work code and the original Bitcoin client code.
However, Lopp said he welcomes objections to his paper. He also believes that the creation of Bitcoin came from a single developer rather than a group of developers.
Recently, Satoshi Nakamoto shared an article talking about the future of Bitcoin after many years. On the other hand, Australian scientist Craig Wright has repeatedly claimed that he is the true creator of Bitcoin. However, he failed to provide any evidence.
"Bitcoin would be better off if the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remained unknown. A person could be criticized and politically attacked. Myths stand the test of time," Lopp said.
