Jameson Lopp, co-founder and chief technology officer of CASA, has questioned the widely held belief that computer scientist and cryptographer Hal Finney is the inventor of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Lopp noted that Finney attended a game in Santa Barbara on April 18, 2009, at the same time that Satoshi was actively engaging in email exchanges and Bitcoin transactions. He also pointed out differences in their coding styles and line spacing preferences, casting doubt on the idea that they were the same person. Although inconclusive, Lopp's investigation challenges the notion that Finney is the founder of Bitcoin.
