Time flies. It has been more than 15 years since I entered the Internet industry. Grassroots webmasters who entered the industry at the same time as me, such as Lu Songsong, Lai Linfeng, the founder of YuLinMuFeng, and Zeng Peng, who made his first fortune with me during the golden age of Weibo, have already changed careers and are enjoying their lives. At present, only Lu Songsong is still active in self-media. The second generation of us who do Baidu search engine optimization has officially ended (before Google China withdrew from the mainland in 2010, we also did Google optimization). I miss those days when we were young, easy to make money, and very happy.

Some things should be done now. This era is changing very fast. You may not have the opportunity to do them in a few years. For example, when driverless cars become popular in the future, the manual Didi business will plummet. It requires more equipment than people. It is no longer an era where you can do one thing for a lifetime. But this does not mean that you don’t need to plan your career. Many people make natural transitions. While they are doing one thing, they are studying another thing. When the market opportunities for this thing decrease, they will transition to another thing more smoothly. The most feared thing in life is passive transformation. It will be very painful. You don’t have the time, energy and financial resources to adjust, change and jump in time. Because many people dare not quit their jobs now. The pressure and worries of life are too heavy. What they can maintain is the life in front of them, and they dare not look forward to the future.

Between the ages of 20 and 30, I changed jobs ten times in total. The most satisfying career experience was when I was 23 years old at Jinshan Avenue (China) Holdings Co., Ltd., where I had a decent position, good salary, little pressure, and was respected by the CEO. It is different from other listed companies. As long as you are not very mediocre, you may work in it until retirement. But I left in less than a year, and I left without asking for permission after the CEO was away on a business trip. Because I knew very well at that time that if you want stability and security in your twenties and live like a dead fish, then your future life will definitely be very worrying. The so-called iron rice bowl you seem to have does not actually exist at all, and it will smash you in front of you sooner or later. So looking back at the past ten years, I don’t regret the struggles when I was young, because no matter where I am, I can choose my own direction, do what I want to do, and live the life I want. After the age of 30, I began to seek long-term development, because at this time my heart is truly settled and I have the opportunity to grasp life.
