Crypto Community Focuses on This: Will This Name Be Satoshi Nakamoto?

The HBO documentary, which promises to reveal the identity of the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, has left its mark on the cryptocurrency community.

According to Polymarket bettors, it is thought that the person whose name will be revealed in the documentary will be Len Sassaman. Sassaman, who ended his life in 2011 after struggling with depression, draws a profile that can be accepted as Satoshi. Known for his academic articles on cryptography, Sassaman was ideologically very committed to privacy and decentralization.

Another detail that increases speculation that Sassaman could be Satoshi is the similarity between the dates when the two disappeared. Satoshi ended his life shortly after he stopped writing on the BTCTalk forum, which is preferred for Bitcoin discussions.

Bettors are also evaluating the possibility that the person whose name will be revealed in the documentary is an unknown person or more than one person in the crypto industry. This scenario is given a 32 percent probability. However, another betting contract on Polymarket gives an 89 percent chance that Satoshi’s identity will not be definitively revealed by 2024.

Satoshi’s identity is still a matter of debate

The question of who Satoshi Nakamoto really is has been debated for years. In 2014, Newsweek claimed to have found Satoshi by examining a US citizenship database. Dorian Prentice, the publication that follows Satoshi Nakamoto, thought that Nakamoto could be Satoshi.

However, Nakamoto has publicly denied through his lawyers that he has any connection to Bitcoin.
