Taiko, the Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution, announced the launch of its first public testnet, named Snæfellsjökull.
Developers can deploy smart contracts on this testnet for users to use DApps. Participants can also run Layer2 nodes. However, currently, the Taiko testnet cannot generate validity certificates and users cannot become verifiers. This issue will be resolved in subsequent testnets.
Taiko uses ZK-Rollup technology to expand Ethereum, aiming to become the ZK-EVM equivalent of EVM and achieve Ethereum equivalence, so that its Rollup can support existing Ethereum smart contracts, DApps, developer tools and infrastructure Facilities etc.
