On a seemingly ordinary Saturday, #MetaMask , the go-to crypto wallet, made headlines when it vanished from the Apple App Store in the United States. But don't fret, it was restored within a matter of hours.
The disappearance was attributed to an "internal operational error on their end."

š„ MetaMask's Response
MetaMask's very own Taylor Monahan, possibly the lead product manager, responded promptly, stating they were on the case, and urging users to be vigilant against fake MetaMask apps, as their removal can open the door to malicious imposters.
šImportantly, this incident was not a security concern. No actions are needed from users, and the app's functionality was unharmed.
š¤ Community Call
MetaMask is reaching out to the #crypto community for support. If you stumble upon any phony MetaMask apps, report them pronto. Protecting users is their utmost priority.
By midday, MetaMask made its triumphant return to the App Store. Other crypto wallet apps like Coinbase, Uniswap, and #Binance were unaffected.
š¦MetaMask's Past
Remember, this isn't MetaMask's first tango with app store troubles.
In 2019, MetaMask was removed from the Google Play app store, but it wasĀ restored a week later.
In December 2022, when Coinbase was booted from the App Store, MetaMask's co-founder, Dan Finlay, voiced his frustration with Apple's policies. It's been quite a rollercoaster.
