🔦 ✨ Spotlight on: OpenGov
Polkadot OpenGov is the most advanced community-driven governance system with no central authority. DOT holders are in full control of the network.
Let's dive in 👇
By definition, a decentralized network like Polkadot is designed to be resilient against corruption or disruption. That means no single person, group, or entity has control over other community members or can stop the underlying tech.
So how are runtime upgrades implemented? Or how is treasury spend allocated? 🤔
OpenGov, the pioneering system for distributing power to the community.
⚙️ How it works → any DOT holder can submit a proposal of an idea or a change they desire to see in the ecosystem, on-chain.
To start, a community member will typically first seek feedback on his/her proposal by submitting it for discussion.
They then submit their proposal in one of several tracks, covering infra deployments, security measures, marketing initiatives, events, and more.
⭕️ 1 DOT = 1 Vote. Different tracks have different decision, confirmation, and enactment periods.
During the decision period, DOT holders can use their DOT to vote ✅ Aye or ❌ Nay, with or without conviction.
Token holders are also able to delegate their votes to other community members if they don't have time or expertise to review all proposals.
