October 9: VitaDAO, a decentralized science organization (DeSci DAO), launched its first biotech company, Matrix Biosciences, in collaboration with Vera Gorbunova of the University of Rochester Center for Aging Research. With $300,000 in seed funding, they will study hyaluronic acid-based compounds with the goal of becoming pioneers in the treatment of cancer and aging, using knowledge of cancer-resistant naked mole rats. “Additional funding is expected through IP-NFT fractional funding in early 2024,” according to the press release.
