[Ripple CTO seeks community consensus on the adoption of the XRPL automatic market maker function]
David Schwartz, Ripple’s chief technology officer, advocated supporting the automatic market maker (AMM) function on XRPL, but it requires community consensus. Schwartz sees AMMs as a key component of decentralized finance. According to its description, XRP Ledger is an open blockchain system that focuses on its speed and scalability, and is particularly suitable for financial applications such as cross-border payments.

In response to community questions about the timetable for AMM activation, Schwartz said that if there is majority support, the change could be completed within two weeks. However, he also emphasized that at this stage, he has not seen validators supporting this modification. This AMM feature has been introduced in rippled version 1.12.0 and will be integrated with XRPL’s decentralized exchange.
Schwartz suggested that validators should consistently support this change after community consensus is formed and sufficient support is obtained.
In addition, Schwartz recently clarified misunderstandings about the recourse feature, which is designed to protect developers within the ecosystem from legal risks.
