Crypto businessman and fugitive Su Zhu's $36 million luxury real estate in Singapore has been converted into an eco-farm. According to local media reports, Zhu's residential property on Yarwood Avenue has been rebranded as "Yarwood Homestead" and is operated by Abundant Cities, co-founded by his wife, Evelyn Tao.
With ecological design and agroecology, the company transformed the manor gardens into a mini farm producing vegetables, herbs, fruit, fish and poultry. Additionally, the bungalow's front lawn was transformed into 36 vegetable gardens growing okra, spinach, beans, kale, sesame seeds and radishes. The pool turned into a natural pond containing aquatic plants, streams, various fish and shrimp. The farm hosts a variety of special gatherings.
Zhu and his wife purchased the property in March 2022 for $36 million. This was shortly before Singapore hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC) collapsed. At the height of the crypto bull market, 3AC reportedly managed over $10 billion in digital assets. The firm filed for bankruptcy in July 2022 following failed leveraged bets on the Terra Luna ecosystem and faces creditor claims of up to $3.5 billion.
On September 29, Cointelegraph reported that Su Zhu was arrested at Singapore Changyi International Airport while trying to leave the country. A few days ago, 3AC's liquidator Teneo accepted a request for underwriting in Singapore, claiming that Zhu had failed to comply with a court order regarding the recovery of company assets. Zhu was sentenced to four months in prison for the violation.
Co-founder and former US citizen Kyle Davies was also sentenced to four months in prison. However, Davies' whereabouts are unknown. Davies claimed earlier this year that there was "no pending litigation or regulatory action" against him.
