Prosecutors say a plea deal was never considered for Sam Bankman-Fried
On the opening day of Sam Bankman-Fried's criminal trial in New York, US government prosecutors told the court that no plea deal had ever been considered for the accused former CEO.
According to a partial transcript live-tweeted by Inner City Press, Assistant US Attorney Nick Roos said on behalf of the government:
“We raised this issue early if there had to be a defense discussion. The answer is no, so there is no plea offer.”
Judge Lewis Kaplan then asked the defense whether the prosecutor's account was accurate. Bankman-Fried's attorney, Mark Cohen, confirmed there had been no such offer.
