According to CoinDesk, the first day of the trial of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ended, but the jury members have not yet been determined and dozens of potential jurors have been eliminated.
Judge Lewis Kaplan said that at the end of the day, about 50 people remained on the waiting list. Twelve jurors and six alternates are expected to be selected on Wednesday morning local time, and opening statements are expected to begin shortly thereafter. The prosecution is expected to make an opening statement of approximately 25-30 minutes, while the defense is expected to make an opening statement of 35-40 minutes. The first witnesses will take the stand later in the day.
