Golden Finance reported that Portuguese central bank governor Mário Centeno claimed that without a global framework, national efforts to regulate cryptocurrencies will not function properly. Speaking about crypto assets and decentralized finance, Centeno cited their “undeniable risks” in the long term, with the official expressing doubts about the democratizing potential of digital assets and even their ultimate viability. Centeno expressed appreciation for the EU cryptocurrency framework MiCA regulations and insisted on further strengthening international supervision under the principle of "same risks, same supervision".
