[ProShares, VanEck and others launch Ether futures ETF]
Several companies have launched exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking ether futures, less than two years after the first Bitcoin futures ETF.
ProShares has launched a U.S.-based Bitcoin futures ETF as well as ETFs focused on ether and combining Bitcoin and ether. Michael L. Sapir, chief executive of ProShares, believes the ETFs will be popular with investors who are concerned about the custody risks of cryptocurrencies or who find buying cryptocurrencies directly too complex. The company emphasizes that these ETFs require no special cryptocurrency facilities to invest.
VanEck also launched the Ethereum Strategy ETF this week, aiming to achieve capital appreciation through Ether futures contracts. VanEck’s Kyle DaCruz said that although U.S. spot ETFs still cannot invest in digital assets, they are happy to provide investors with access to the ether futures market through this ETF.
In addition, Bitwise will also launch two Ether futures ETFs, namely Bitwise Ethereum Strategy ETF and Bitwise Bitcoin and Ether Equal Weight Strategy ETF.
