According to Foresight News, Volatility Shares launched the filing for an Ethereum futures ETF in July, but the company chose to abandon its Ethereum futures ETF plan because it lost its first-mover advantage, Blockworks reported citing sources. Nate Geraci, president of The ETF Store, said in August that he expected demand for Ethereum futures ETFs to be “pretty limited overall.”
Separately, Valkyrie on Thursday added Ethereum futures contracts to its Bitcoin Futures ETF as part of an investment strategy change that will take effect on October 3. But the company said in a filing on Friday that it would "close out" its position in Ethereum futures contracts before formally revising its investment strategy. Roundhill Investments requested in a Sept. 29 filing with the SEC that it withdraw its application for an Ethereum futures ETF. Kelly ETF founder Kevin Kelly says his company will not launch a proposed Ethereum futures ETF.
