Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht celebrated 10 years in prison after receiving a double life sentence in 2013. Ulbricht expressed fears that he would spend the rest of his life “behind concrete walls and locked doors.” Silk Road, founded in 2011, was the first modern dark market with a Bitcoin-based payment system. Ulbricht was convicted in 2015 of running Silk Road and received two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
