On September 29, Polygon Labs announced that Google Cloud has joined the Polygon proof-of-stake network as a validator. This development marks a significant milestone for Polygon, with Google Cloud's extensive expertise and resources.

Under this collaboration, Google Cloud has joined a diverse group of over 100 validators responsible for verifying transactions on Polygon's layer-2 Ethereum network.

Google Cloud has demonstrated its commitment to the growth and security of blockchain technology.

Polygon Labs shared its excitement for this partnership on the X platform (formerly Twitter) and emphasized that the infrastructure of platforms such as YouTube and Gmail will contribute to the security and efficiency of the Ethereum-based Polygon protocol.

The Google Cloud Singapore account has officially confirmed its role as a validator in the Polygon proof-of-stake network, highlighting its commitment to strengthening the security, governance and decentralization of the network.

Google Cloud described its collaboration with Polygon Labs as an ongoing strategic partnership and demonstrated a long-term commitment to blockchain technology.

Polygon Labs has launched the "Polygon 2.0" project, which aims to update and improve the Polygon network. This multi-phase project, currently in "Phase 0", includes a number of Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs). PIP 17 includes the transition from MATIC token to the new POL token. PIP 18 and 19 address important issues such as the technical description of POL and the update of gas tokens. These changes are planned to be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2023.
