Proof of Play is a Web3 game studio that aims to abstract complexity from the player experience and enhance the future of web3-powered games. Its first game, Pirate Nation, is a high-seas adventure filled with treasure, fun, and unexpected surprises. Players collect and send pirates on adventures to collect crafting materials, treasure, and pirate gold. Pirates can gain experience and level up through multiple adventures.
At present, the project has launched a treasure chest, which is free to claim. You can go and claim it. If you have money, you can create more accounts.

In Pirate Nation, all of your NFTs and their metadata are completely dynamic, upgradeable, and generated on-chain. This means that as you play games with your pirates, they gain experience points and level up. However, unlike other games, we have no centralized servers controlling this capability. It all happens on-chain! To achieve this, we built a new contract framework for dynamic token metadata that enables NFTs to evolve as the game progresses.
Dynamic metadata (on-chain)
The way metadata works in Pirate Nation is a paradigm shift from static metadata, revolutionizing the functionality of NFTs. We generate the tokenURI data on-chain in the code of the smart contract.
Because all this metadata is stored and generated on-chain, it is completely decentralized! This also means that the game will exist forever as long as the blockchain on which the game is deployed exists.
We view gameplay as a form of expression, and with dynamic NFTs, the tokens you create will live forever on-chain.

Things to know:
1. Everything is on the chain: All items, currencies, and game logic are built using smart contracts. This also means that even if the original Pirate Kingdom developer no longer exists, the game will continue to run.
2. Pirates live on L1 (Ethereum) and games are played on L2 (Nova), no bridge required.
3. Pirates and Ships are ERC721, which means they are dynamic and can gain capabilities over time.
4. Items and resources (cotton, rum, statues, totems, etc.) are all ERC1155.
5. Pirate Gold ($PGLD) is an ERC20.
6. Games on Arbitrum Nova.

Get a Pirate: Pirates are the key to the Pirate Kingdom. You need at least one Pirate to play, which can be purchased on OpenSea, Trove, or Blur.
Captain: You will be able to designate a pirate as the captain of your crew. Captains have access to benefits that apply only to them. Captains receive a 10% bonus to XP earned through missions.
Pirate Level: Gain XP by completing various tasks to upgrade your level in the game.
Elemental Affinity: Pirates have an elemental affinity, which provides them with advantages and disadvantages over other elemental affinities. Pirates will only have affinity to one element. This advantage/disadvantage manifests in combat.
Expertise
Pirates have specialized knowledge that gives them an advantage in combat. The size of this advantage depends on the pirate's rank.
Damage - Each attack deals additional damage
Dodge - Makes the ship harder to hit
Speed - gives the ship a higher chance of attacking first
Accuracy - Improves the hit rate of ship attacks
Health - Increases the maximum health of a ship selected for combat
Pirate Gold (PGLD) and Mark (MARK) are the two currencies used in Pirate Realms. These currencies allow players to upgrade their pirates and craft items. Players can only use one at any given time, depending on their trade lock status.
The goal of overhauling the combat system in Pirate Kingdoms is to give our players a deeper, more interesting overall experience. To achieve this, we introduced a fast-paced, turn-based card system that requires player input and decision-making on a turn-by-turn basis. You'll also notice more dynamic camera angles in combat, as well as shiny new effects and sounds. It all culminates in the challenge of player-versus-player (PvP) combat. Combat is done through cards, which should be familiar to anyone who has played a card game.
Islands are your personal showcase for the loot and artifacts collected during your pirates’ daring adventures. Simply tap the Island Skiff or the new HUD icon to enter this personalized space.
Item Rarity
Certain items in Pirate Realms are easier to obtain than others, and rarity rankings are used to indicate how difficult it is to obtain an item.
Some items are collected by completing simpler low-level tasks and will be classified as normal items. Items that can only be obtained from limited-time prize pools will be rated rare or even legendary.
