The U.S. Bitcoin Spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) experienced $168.4 million in net outflows on Monday amid significant volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
Among the 12 bitcoin spot ETFs, Grayson’s GBTC recorded daily net outflows of $69.12 million, according to SoSoValue data. Ark Invest and 21Shares’ ARKB followed closely behind with outflows of $69 million, while Fidelity’s Bitcoin Fund reported net outflows of $58 million.
Those outflows were offset by $21.81 million in net inflows into Grayson’s newly listed Bitcoin Trust. ETFs from VanEck and Bitwise also attracted about $3 million on Monday.
The largest Bitcoin spot ETF, BlackRock's IBIT, as well as Valkyrie, Invesco and three other funds, saw no flows yesterday. These 12 funds have seen a total of $17.34 billion in net inflows since January.
On Monday, total trading volume of Bitcoin spot ETFs reached $5.24 billion, the highest single-day volume since March 25, likely due to the sharp volatility in global markets that day.
The sharp drop in global cryptocurrency and stock markets on Monday was triggered by multiple financial and macroeconomic factors. Macro issues affecting global stock markets included escalating tensions in the Middle East and weak U.S. economic data, while cryptocurrency-related factors such as the movement of Jump Crypto assets and uncertainty surrounding the upcoming U.S. elections further led to a sell-off in the cryptocurrency market.
Bitcoin prices briefly fell below the $50,000 mark but have since recovered to $55,524, according to The Block’s Bitcoin price page. Ethereum prices also plunged to a low of around $2,200 on Monday and have rebounded to $2,500.
