I am Shenyu. I accidentally entered the Crypto field in 2011. I have traded coins, had my positions blown up, mined, made chips, and bankrupted several companies. Currently, I am still working hard on the front line, running two companies, F2 Pool and Cobo. Lets AAA.

Question: What is this product for?

Shenyu: F 2 Pool, as a classic PoW mining pool, provides refined software services for miners. Through network connection, the mining machine can be connected to the mining pool, and the mining pool can synchronize block data and unpackaged transaction information from the full-node blockchain network. This information is used to build tasks and then quickly assigned to each mining machine to perform calculations. Once a mining machine finds a value that meets the difficulty requirements, the mining pool will broadcast the corresponding generated block to the entire network. The distribution of mined block rewards is carried out according to a specific distribution algorithm to ensure the benefits of all mining machines. After 10 years of accumulation, F 2 Pool has successfully mined more than 1.5 million bitcoins.

Cobo provides professional and diverse private key security storage services for institutional users, including centralized HSM, collaborative MPC, and on-chain multi-signature, and designs detailed and comprehensive risk control strategies that are in line with the company's internal workflow.

Question: How do you cheer yourself up and continue after each business failure?

Shenyu: I took a break for a few months, played some games, read some books, and was really bored, so I continued to look for things to do.

Question: What are your main responsibilities in the several companies you have started?

Shenyu: I am more involved in strategy, operations, and products. I have also worked in Ops for a long time, for more than 4 years. There are only 2 and a half people in F 2 Pool. I do everything except write code. I can be considered a handyman.

Question: Where did this half person (the "2 and a half people" mentioned above) come from?

Shenyu: I maintain the mine while serving as an online customer service representative, so I am considered half a person.

Question: How do you understand "having made chips"? Making chips in China seems to be a huge investment with a very long payback period, right?

Shenyu: We make mining chips, which follow the first principles, save as much as possible, and have a fast iteration cycle. If the chips are made at the right time, the profits are not bad. In 2013, we made a 55 nm LTC chip, but it didn't catch up with the rising market cycle.

Question: From 2011 to now, is there anything you once believed in that you no longer believe in? Or is there anything you once did not believe in that you now believe in?

Shenyu: This is a very good question. From a young man who just graduated from school to more than ten years of ups and downs in the industry, I have experienced too many tests of human nature and witnessed the ups and downs of many people. So now I believe more in not challenging human nature.

Question: Why did the fish pool close new user registration when the BTC ratio exceeded 33%?

Shenyu: As a crypto-native entrepreneur, I am well aware that a single mining pool with more than 33% may affect the security of the entire blockchain network. My personal assets and dreams are closely related to the security of the blockchain, so I choose to devote myself to protecting the security of the network.

Question: In addition to stopping the registration of new users, what other measures will be taken? What will other mining pools do in this situation? (Continue the previous question)

Shenyu: Actually, there are limits to what a mining pool can do. Generally, they will stop new user registrations first. If the computing power share continues to increase, they can increase the handling fee to force profit-sensitive users to migrate to other mining pools. Similar situations have occurred several times in history.

Question: So what is the relationship between mining companies, SMIC, and Huawei’s latest mobile phone chip?

Shenyu: I really don’t know about this.

Question: Are you happy now or in the past? Or have you been happy all along?

Shenyu: The benefit of blockchain is that there are endless fun things, and dopamine secretion is very strong. If I have to compare, I am still happier before.

Question: What is Shenyu's view on money? Sometimes money comes quickly in this industry, making people feel like it's coming in a strong wind. Sometimes it may be because you hit the right spot, but you mistakenly think it's your ability. How do you think about cryptocurrency assets with a peaceful mind?

Shenyu: Try more, think clearly about how to make money, but only make money within your ability. I guess it was probably because the market was flat in 2012-2013. I played a lot of games on the blockchain, "Satoshi Dice". The wins and losses were big, which had a great impact on my emotions. Later, I became more and more calm and more resolute in stopping losses.

Question: I’m curious if you still rush towards local dogs or something like that?

Shenyu: Tugou will not charge, the capital capacity is too small, and the rules are not transparent. The first mine audited by the internal security team will occasionally charge.

Question: For you, happiness has nothing to do with money anymore, right? So what does it have to do with?

Shenyu: It may be the feeling of growth. I will be happy when I understand a complex protocol, read a good book, learn a mental model, achieve a stage goal, etc.
