According to Coincu, a recent report released by blockchain monitoring platform Elliptic shows that North Korea's notorious hacker group Lazarus Group has been involved in a series of major cryptocurrency attacks. Lazarus Group is believed to be behind five major cryptocurrency attacks, the most recent of which targeted the cryptocurrency gambling platform Stake.com. Since the attack on Atomic Wallet in June, it then attacked payment companies Alphapo and CoinsPaid in July. Elliptic's findings show that Lazarus stole nearly $240 million in cryptocurrency in just 104 days. It is worth noting that Lazarus Group has turned to attacking centralized platforms rather than decentralized platforms, indicating a change in its strategy. Lazarus Group has been responsible for a series of high-profile cyber attacks in the past, including the infamous WannaCry ransomware attack in 2017. Their recent actions show that they still pose a major threat to the global cryptocurrency ecosystem.
