In response to the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Morocco, Binance Charity will distribute up to $3 million in BNB to Binance users identified as residing in the regions affected by the tragedy.

User identification will be based on proof of address (POA) completed before September 9, 2023 in the province of Marrakech-Safi, which suffered the most significant impact. Each of the users who completed the POA before this date in the Marrakech-Safi province area will receive $100 in BNB directly to their Binance account.

We recognize that many users in the affected area may not yet have completed the POA. Therefore, for any existing user who completes the POA after September 9, 2023 and before September 30, 2023, we will donate $25 in BNB directly to their Binance account.

Additionally, for our active users transacting in Morocco, who are not in the affected area, we will distribute $10 in BNB to each of them.

We hope our efforts will reach around 70,000 Binance users living in Morocco. Our funds will reach our users from September 12, 2023.

In the immediate aftermath of natural disasters, people often lose access to traditional banks at the exact time that extra funds are needed to help cover the costs of medical supplies, food, and other essential needs.

Now, cryptocurrency transfers are increasingly being used to deliver financial aid to disaster victims, as they provide fast, low-cost, borderless and transparent transactions.

Binance Founder and CEO CZ said: “The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people is devastating. We hope we can bring some support to those affected. For Moroccan users who receive these donations, but who were not affected by the earthquake, we ask that you pass the funds on to those most in need.”

Binance Charity has also launched a public donation address so anyone can donate. Whatever we receive at this address, we will donate the full amount in crypto to an authorized NGO (to be named soon) to help people in need. For the Earthquake Emergency Appeal, donations in BNB, BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT or BUSD will be accepted.
