PUBG Developers Krafton Announces Cosmos-based Layer 1 Using USDC For Settlements

Cosmos-based Layer 1 Blockchain Launched, PUBG Krafton developers announced

Krafton, the game development company renowned for its popular battle royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds, has announced plans to launch Settlus, a layer 1 blockchain utilizing the Cosmos SDK for payment settlements in USDC (USD Coin).

At the Korea Blockchain Week's Circle Hacker House event, Krafton, in collaboration with Circle and AngelHack, introduced the Settlus blockchain platform. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire shared this development, describing it as "pretty exciting" and highlighting PUBG's enormous user base of 30 million monthly active players who could potentially embrace the new payment and settlement layer.

Settlus is a layer-1 blockchain designed for payment settlements and metaverse-related projects. One unique feature of this blockchain is that gas fees will be payable using stablecoins, with initial payment settlements for content creators facilitated through Circle's USDC.

The Cosmos SDK, short for Cosmos Software Development Kit, serves as the framework for creating new layer-1 blockchains that can seamlessly interact with other blockchains built using the same standard.

Circle, meanwhile, introduced native USDC support within the Cosmos ecosystem through Noble, an appchain designed for native asset issuance and inter-blockchain transfers using the IBC protocol within the Cosmos network on September 1.
