What is Zeebit?
Zeebit is building the ultimate degen playground - a new, edgy and novel platform for risk games and experiences - built for the new generation of risk seekers on web3. Zeebit sets out to solve the opaque and shady side of online gaming and create new risk games and experiences. It involves fully on-chain protocols, verifiable and provable fairness, and non-custodial settlement. Network congestion challenges
Soon after launch, Solana’s network congestion created challenges for Zeebit — putting pressure on use cases that rely on low-cost and low-latency transactions. This was an unexpected blow to the project and community, but we’re happy to say that neither the team nor the community is giving up! Core contributors have been working hard to address these challenges and find solutions — and we’re excited to share the first of these updates. (More to come… 🤫)
What is Sonic? @SonicSVM is a new SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) layer 2 that will be launched in Q3 2024. Sonic has been specifically optimized for on-chain gaming and use cases, just like Zeebit. Zeebit will be one of the first protocols to launch on Sonic, giving people one of the first opportunities to experience what Sonic has to offer and participate in growing the Sonic ecosystem. Transactions will see millisecond latencies, and gas costs are expected to be a fraction of what they are today on Solana. Sonic’s hypergrid model also means there is room for horizontal scaling as Zeebit and Sonic grow.

There’s more - Not only are we re-deploying the existing Zeebit protocol on Sonic, the core team is also hard at work building Zeebit v2. v2 reflects all the lessons learned from the Solana congestion period, the changes to the SVM in recent months, and core features that unlock new types of games and experiences - including: - Multiplayer - Price-based games - More interactive and decision-based games - Frictionless/auto-signing - The ability to support more and more tokens - Support for more wallets ...and more
What does this mean for Zeebit on Solana?
Zeebit 💜 Solana — has always been and will continue to be deeply embedded in the Solana ecosystem. This is not a move away from Solana, but an extension of it. Zeebit (v1) will remain on the Solana mainnet and will migrate to v2 once it is ready — all player history, stats, and scores will be transferred over. We will also have more exciting news soon about what other great improvements and partnerships are coming to the Solana instance of Zeebit v2.Alpha:
What should you expect?
Sonic Testnet Odyssey is live — Zeebit will be joining in a few weeks, giving Zeebit players and Odyssey enjoyers the opportunity to earn Sonic Rings and rewards. Continued Support for Solana Mainnet — In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy Zeebit’s games on Solana Mainnet. Zeebit v2 Mainnet Launch (expected end of August) — Rewards and incentives plans to be announced soon.
