SBF spokesman Mark Botnick confirmed that SBF has hired well-known white-collar lawyer Mark Cohen as its defense attorney.
Cohen is a former federal prosecutor who leads the white collar criminal defense and regulatory group at the law firm Cohen and Gresser, where he most recently represented Ghislaine Maxwell in her sex trafficking case. Cohen also won an insider trading case against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2014. SBF is currently under investigation by U.S. federal prosecutors and the SEC, but has not been formally charged with any crime.
Separately, Caroline Ellison of Alameda Research has hired Washington-based law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr to represent her. (Reuters)
