When I first created Kari Luna, I imagined her as a strong character. Her cursed technique was pretty simple: she could increase her allies’ speed while slowing down her enemies, making her a great support fighter.
But while writing the story, I changed my mind.
Instead of making her stronger physically or mentally, I decided to make her cute, lazy, and a little bit of a coward 😂. Since this story is already pretty dark, I wanted Kari to become the light of the story. The kind of character every father would spoil and protect.
So yes…
She is a support character.
And yes…
She runs away from danger whenever things get too scary 😭😭😭
Now, for the few people who actually read Chapter 24 (most of you probably didn’t 🥲🥲), you might be wondering:
“Why is Kari Luna fighting on the front line alongside Luncius against Malvors, the Heir of the Red Candle Clan?”
Good question.
The answer is simple.
Kari is actually the daughter of the leader of the Green Candle Clan. The person who commands warriors like Luncius, Auri, Vex, and many others.
So why is she even there?
Well, during a battle long ago, Kari was nearly killed. Luncius jumped in front of the attack and blocked it with his own body, nearly dying in the process.
Long story short…
Both of them survived.
And after that, Kari may or may not have developed a tiny little crush on Luncius 👀
Because of that, she begged her father to let her join Luncius’s team in the battle against Malvors.
Her father said no.
She kept asking.
He said no again.
She kept yapping.
He said no again.
She kept yapping.
And yapping.
And yapping.
Eventually her father gave up and said:
“Fine. Go.”
So that’s how Kari ended up on the battlefield 😭
