โณโณ๏ธSANTANDER ENTERA Nร โฟITCOIN VIA BLACKROCKโณ๏ธโฐ
Santander declared a position of US$ 4.3 million in the iShares โฟitcoin Trust, the IBIT, a spot Bitcoin ETF managed by BlackRock.
The exposure corresponds to 129,615 shares reported in a filing submitted to the SEC. The bank does not hold
$BTC directly: it uses a regulated, exchange-traded product with third-party custody.
๐ฅ The amount is small for an institution the size of Santander.
But the symbolism is huge.
One of Europeโs largest banks now appears alongside institutions such as Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs in adopting Bitcoin ETFs.
Choosing the IBIT removes several obstacles faced by banks:
โธPrivate keys
โธDigital wallets
โธSelf-custody
โธIntegration with exchanges
โธOperational doubts.
For treasury operations, the ETF works like a traditional stock, but provides exposure to the Bitcoin price.
๐ The IBIT manages about US$ 46.9 billion and continues to lead Bitcoin ETFs. The total of U.S. funds in the category already exceeds US$ 83 billion in assets.
The move also follows Openbankโs crypto expansion, Santanderโs digital arm, which has been offering digital asset trading to European customers.
๐ง The Message To the Market is Clear:
in banks can continue criticizing the risks of โฟitcoin, but the infrastructure created by ETFs has made it hard to ignore.
๐ฏThe Question Right Now is:
Which next major bank will officially add โฟitcoinยป
$BTC ยป to its balance sheet?
