Programmers aren’t panicking yet—UI is growing on its own first

When the code is gone, the interface grows by itself. With Runway’s move, it basically snatches the job of “writing interfaces” from human hands. They call it the first interface world model—sounds mysterious, but really it boils down to one thing: in the future, when you make an app, you speak and it does the work. The UI generates itself.

Don’t rush to call it a disruption. What it can generate right now is mostly demo-level interfaces, and complex logic still needs humans to cover the gaps. But the trend is obvious: the barrier to coding is being flattened by AI, like digging it up with a shovel.

“Everyone is a product manager” used to be the slogan—now it should be “everyone is a developer.” Those junior coders who rely on cranking out rigid, templated forms for a living should really think about what they’ll do tomorrow. As tools get smarter, people have to move toward being “business-savvy and aesthetically aware.”

The technology is great—it’s just unclear whether it will ultimately liberate programmers, or first knock down a wave of outsourcing companies. How far do you think your job is from getting bitten by AI?
