NYSE and OKX propose a 24-hour open stock market
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and cryptocurrency company OKX announced a partnership to create a stock market that never closes, with trading available every day at any hour. The new venture, called OKXICE, would start with more than 60 companies listed in New York. The names mentioned include Coca-Cola, JPMorgan, Oracle, and Pfizer.
The initiative does not mean the entire New York Stock Exchange will operate without breaks. For now, the plan covers a limited selection of companies whose shares would be represented digitally on a technology network similar to those used by cryptocurrencies.
With this system, investors could buy fractions of a share rather than having to purchase a whole one. For example, someone could invest 50 dollars in a company whose share price is higher.
The project was submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the agency that must approve it before it can launch. NYSE and OKX have not yet announced a launch date or the final list of available companies.
