WHO REALLY OWNS YOUR MEDICAL DATA?
Think about your last laboratory test.
Your name.
Your blood results.
Your medical history.
Your diagnosis.
Your imaging.
Your treatment history.
All of this creates something incredibly valuable:
HEALTH DATA.
But here is the problem 👇
Your medical information can be scattered across different hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and insurance systems.
One facility may have your CBC.
Another may have your previous diagnosis.
Another may have your imaging.
And sometimes these systems cannot communicate efficiently with each other.
The World Health Organization has identified interoperability, data sharing and responsible health-data governance as important parts of modern digital health.
So where does blockchain enter?
Blockchain can potentially provide a tamper-resistant, auditable layer for exchanging and verifying information between different parties.
And crypto adds another interesting possibility:
What if individuals could have much greater control over who can access their health data—and potentially participate in the value created from research using that data?
