🚀 Solana breaks its ATH… but not its market capitalization. Why? 💭

Although $SOL has just marked a new all-time high price, its market capitalization did not surpass the previous peak.
And the reason lies in its inflationary mechanism 🧩

💡 Solana has no maximum limit of tokens (there is no “max supply”).
It operates with a decreasing programmed inflation, which started at 8% annually and decreases by 15% each year, until stabilizing around 1.5% 📉

🔥 Additionally:

Only 50% of transaction fees are burned, which helps to reduce the supply… but that burn does not offset what is issued by inflation each year.

A large portion of the SOL is locked or staked, which reduces the liquid supply, but not the total amount in circulation.

📊 In summary:
Market capitalization = price × circulating supply.
If the supply grows over time, a much higher price is needed to equal or surpass the market capitalization it had before.
That’s why, even though Solana has reached a new ATH in price, its market cap remains below the historical peak.
