$APE is facing short-term pressure. Here are my thoughts.
The main pressure comes from two factors: First, Paper staking yields in the related ecosystem plunged 93% in a single day, while TVL and trading volume both fell sharply, signaling clear risk aversion. Second, the U.S. election in November coincides with the APEC meeting, raising macroeconomic uncertainty and weighing heavily on risk assets across the board.
APE is currently trading at around $0.1346, with 24-hour trading volume of about $14.16 million and a market cap of roughly $135 million. Liquidity has not dried up, suggesting this downturn is more a short-term sentiment-driven headwind than a fundamental collapse.
My view: With ecosystem metrics crumbling and macro noise mounting, prices are likely to remain weak and choppy in the short term, so be cautious about chasing a rally. On the other hand, a sharp drop in staking yields often marks the tail end of a bubble deflating. Once the two major November events are behind us and risk-averse capital starts flowing back in, APE may have room to recover.
As for trading, I wouldn’t recommend selling in a panic at the worst of sentiment, but don’t rush to buy the dip and catch a falling knife either. It’s better to wait for on-chain TVL to stabilize and trading volume to pick up again before taking action.
