The Dow surged more than 1,569 points in a single day, and Microsoft and Apple hit new highs, while Nvidia and Tesla fell that same evening. The index is rising, but the megacaps have already split into two camps.
Two groups are affected: those holding Nasdaq longs who assume “all tech stocks rise together,” and those watching NVDA and TSLA to time their trades. The former are reassured by the index; the latter are getting a lesson from individual stocks. The same applies to risk appetite in crypto: BTC, COIN, and MSTR follow the Nasdaq’s direction, not the Dow’s old-economy components.
What matters is how long this divergence can last: if Apple and Microsoft are hitting new highs on safe-haven inflows, the Nasdaq futures rebound is missing a leg. Watching whether the megacaps continue to diverge or turn together in the next session is more useful than focusing on the Dow’s 1,569-point gain.
