Fake Dior Meme Coin Exposed – Market Collapses Almost to Zero
The Coin Dior meme token suffered a massive 90% crash after it was revealed to be a fraudulent token that was illegally promoted through Dior’s official Instagram account.
📅 On February 19, the official Instagram account of luxury fashion brand Dior posted a suspicious message promoting a Solana-based meme coin called “Dior Official Coin”. The post included a link to Pump.fun, a popular meme coin launch platform. Within minutes, it was seen by Dior’s 46.8 million followers, leading to a surge in the token's value.
💬 Commenters quickly suspected that the Dior account had been hacked. While some joked that Dior’s Instagram admin needed money, others immediately flagged it as a potential scam.
🚨 Dior’s Instagram Hacked! Fake Crypto Promotion Disappears
The hacker tried to market Coin Dior as an "exclusive luxury cryptocurrency", claiming it was "secure, innovative, and future-ready." The post featured Dior’s logo on a black background with the Solana logo to make it appear more legitimate.
However, shortly after Dior regained control of its account, the post was deleted.
🚫 Dior has yet to release an official statement confirming the social media hack.
📉 Coin Dior Plummets Nearly to Zero After Exposure
According to GeckoTerminal, the Dior coin was launched on Solana via Pump.fun on the same day the Instagram hack occurred.
🔹 The token surged 138% within minutes of launch.
🔹 Daily trading volume exceeded $1 million.
🔹 After the Instagram post was deleted, the price collapsed by over 90%.
📊 Current Coin Dior status:
✅ Down more than 90%
✅ Only a 2% increase in the last hour
✅ Around 876 active traders remain
✅ Liquidity: $8,730
✅ Fully diluted market cap: $6,430 (down from a peak of $280,000)
The fraudulent project tried to convince investors that it was an exclusive token for Dior fans, claiming in its description:
🗣 "Dior Coin is here to shake up the crypto world! This exclusive token, launched on Pump.fun, brings a touch of luxury to the digital space. It’s not about shopping at Dior, but about stylishly owning a piece of the future."
🔥 Dior Isn’t the Only Target: Crypto Hacks on the Rise
Meme coin scams are becoming increasingly common. Following the Dior hack, the official X (Twitter) account of Jupiter DEX on Solana was also compromised.
📌 Scammers used the same tactic, hacking the account to promote a fake meme coin called MEOW, inspired by Jupiter’s mascot.
🛑 Lesson Learned: Be Cautious When Investing in Meme Coins!
This case is a clear warning for investors—just because a token appears on an official social media account doesn’t mean it’s legitimate.
⚠️ How to protect yourself?
✅ Don’t invest in tokens solely based on social media hype.
✅ Always verify projects before putting money into them.
✅ Be skeptical of crypto promotions on hacked accounts.
