BNB node upgrade proposal still under review | Cross-client consistency tests pass | Just waiting for confirmation near $695 My stance is to watch cautiously. I would not treat a code proposal that passed local tests as bullish news about a mainnet upgrade. On November 4, the official BNB Chain reth-bsc repository opened PR #621, aiming to update the client dependency to Reth v2.8 and change how total difficulty data is stored in static files. The page is still marked Open and proposed for merging into develop. This shows that development is progressing, but it does not mean the upgrade has been deployed on mainnet, much less prove that BNB has a definite wave of buying demand. Why should traders care about this? BSC has more than one node implementation. Different clients need to remain consistent in fork choice, synchronization, and reading historical data after a restart; otherwise, node operators, wallets, and application service providers could face operational risks. The proposal's authors disclosed that, in a local test network with ten validators, one Reth node ran alongside nine Geth nodes. Over the tested interval, the block hashes, state roots, receipt roots, and other data from Reth and two Geth comparison nodes were consistent, and transfer receipts also matched. After restarting, the nodes were able to catch up with existing history. The authors also explicitly noted that old historical static files would not be rewritten automatically, and that incorrect old total difficulty data must still be fixed before switching. These results are specific to the test environment and do not prove long-term stability on a production network. The impact on BNB is indirect: only if subsequent reviews, merging, an official release, and node adoption all go smoothly might client diversity and infrastructure reliability improve the BSC application experience. Any resulting improvement in on-chain experience would then need to translate into trading and gas demand, which requires independent data verification. Current hot topics on Binance Square still center on the phased resumption of withdrawals and security incidents. The platform's withdrawal status and the BSC consensus client upgrade are two separate developments; they should not be conflated, and users' attention to restored services cannot be directly converted into a BNB price increase. As of writing, BNB/USD on Kraken is around $695.16, with a daily open near $688.89, a 24-hour low of $683, and a high of $717.39. The price has recovered from the daily open but remains well below the intraday high. This is the market's current reaction, not enough to prove that the PR is driving the rise. I see $700 as the short-term confirmation level, $683 as the risk level, and around $717 as an upper level to watch. If the price briefly breaks above $700 but then falls back, or if the PR review identifies work that needs to be redone, my cautious view remains unchanged. I will raise my assessment of the move's sustainability only if there is evidence of an official release and node adoption, while the price holds above $700 and successfully retests that level. If I were trading this myself, I would stay out for now. My directional bias would be to wait for the conditions to trigger before taking a small spot long position; my current position is 0%. Only if BNB closes above $700 for two consecutive one-hour periods, holds the $695–$700 range on a retest, and there is no new negative security announcement would I use at most 1% of my total capital to test a position. No leverage. The first target is $710, where I would sell half; the second level to watch is around $717, where I would sell half of the remainder. After entry, I would stop out if a one-hour candle closes below $688. If the entry conditions are not met, I would remain flat. If the price surges but then loses $700 as volume weakens, or if officials confirm that the proposal has been withdrawn or node tests show a major inconsistency, I would close the entire remaining position. I would not use a technical proposal as a reason to hold a losing trade.
