New York Mayor Eric Adams announced yesterday that his first paycheck would be automatically converted into cryptocurrency. The Mayor’s salary will be converted from dollars into Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC).
During his campaign for office last year, Adams claimed that he would take his first three paychecks in BTC and signalled his intention to make his city the “center of the cryptocurrency industry”, as Adams looks to “empower people through tech with a more diverse set of options to manage their finances.”
