Drone Racing League (DRL) and Web 3 game developer Playground Games have partnered to launch the first play-to-earn drone game in the metaverse. The metaverse game was launched on the Algorand blockchain but the details of the game are yet to be determined.

Players are expected to race DRL drones and earn rewards in the process. Algorand is an open-source, permissionless, Pure Proof-of-Stake (PPoS) blockchain protocol for “the next generation of financial products”. As such, Algorand ensures "full participation, protection and speed within a truly decentralized network".
