Two Binancians Named in 2020 Bloomberg 50 List: From Exchanging the World to Changing the World

Two Binancians were recently recognized on the 2020 Bloomberg 50 list: Binance CEO CZ and Africa PR Lead Damilola Odufuwa

Last week, Bloomberg Businessweek named Binance CEO CZ (Changpeng Zhao) to the 2020 Bloomberg 50, its annual list of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who have changed the global business landscape over the past year. The Bloomberg 50 list represents the most influential thought leaders in business, entertainment, finance, politics, science and technology, in addition to social activists who are changing the world for the better.

We’re honored to share that our PR lead and spokesperson for Africa, Damilola Odufuwa, was also recognized in this year’s list for her work at the Feminist Coalition. She and her co-founder, Odunayo Eweniyi formed the Feminist Coalition last July to champion equality in Nigeria, with a focus on advancing education and financial freedom for women in the country. Their work was widely praised and acknowledged for aiding peaceful protestors in their fight to end police brutality via the #EndSARS movement. The Feminist Coalition “raised almost $388,000 in two weeks” to provide medical care, legal aid and food to those in need, while most donations were made using crypto.

Behind Damilola and CZ, whose work has been honored in this influential ranking list, is a team of passionate people who are working towards the betterment of society.

“Our goal is to bring more inclusion, sustainability and responsibility in the crypto and blockchain ecosystem that is beneficial to society and protects our users and the industry. We believe we’re stronger together and continue working with others who share the industry’s common mission to further the freedom of money around the world for the new financial era,” -- CZ.

Realizing the freedom of money includes improving lives and finding effective ways to address social issues, thereby bringing positive change for the betterment of society. At Binance, our everyday work is centered around this mission and includes individuals who contribute to our shared vision and work from our philanthropy arm, Binance Charity.Binance Charity’s recent campaign, Crypto Against COVID, has raised and donated $4.89 million worth of cryptocurrencies to provide more than 1.5 million items of personal protective equipment (PPE) to over 20 countries around the world. Other initiatives include the Beirut Explosion Relief, Pink Care Token Project for Period Poverty, Humanity First Project for Refugees, Australian bushfire donations and Lunch For Children among others.

This turbulent year has posed major challenges as well as changes to the lives of everyday people. The spread of COVID-19 negatively impacted the well-being of countless individuals, damaging the global economy in the process, while historic natural disasters have devastated regions around the world. At Binance, we hope to continue contributing to the improvement of lives around the world, furthering financial inclusion and freedom, by using crypto as the fundamental agent of positive change.
