MALTA (December 18, 2018) -- Binance Charity Foundation (BCF), the philanthropic arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has opened a fundraising channel to support terminally ill patients and disadvantaged children in Malta. The funds are raised in aid of Malta’s National Charity – The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, which will provide financial, material and professional support to improve the lives of 15,000 individuals and families.
Known as the L-IstrinaCampaign, the fundraising channel is currently open and accepting donations on Binance Charity, a fully transparent platform that ensures all donations are tracked on the blockchain. The total sum of donations will be announced during L-Istrina, a 12-hour internationally-televised charity telethon.
Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, and TRON, the blockchain-based operating system, have each committed to donating USD$100,000 in cryptocurrency to the charity.
President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, said that the BCF donation platform is a perfect opportunity for blockchain and crypto companies globally to reflect and express their sound corporate social responsibility values, and to effectively show how the innovative technology of blockchain can be used for the social good.
“Binance is just doing our part to contribute to people who are in need. Charity is one of those areas where everyone should help out if they can,“ said CZ, CEO and Founder of Binance. “With blockchain technologies, we can solve the transparency problem in charity – increasing the amount of charity people will do. I hope to encourage more people in the space to use crypto for social good.”
Justin Sun, founder and CEO of TRON said: “TRON has always believed blockchain has enormous potential for social good. As a technology leader, our partnership with BCF and Malta is one of many ways of accomplishing change for the better.”
